Welcome to
The Little Pop Up on the Green
Each month Glad Green warmly welcomes a creative business to take up residence in our pop up shop on East Street.
This month Lauren from Manatee Squares has settled in with her beloved dogs Romy and Wally. Lauren is a highly experienced crochet designer who has published countless patterns. Her book, Filet Crochet to Wear is one of the favourites at the village bookshop. She is the texture-queen with candy-coloured beautiful wearables full of filet, bobbles, and gorgeous colour-work.
Step inside and check out some of Loz's favourite patterns below.

A little note from Lauren
Hi, I'm Lauren, aka Manatee Squares. I live in Kent, UK, with my husband Matt and our dogs, my constant crochet companions, Wally and Romy.
I started crocheting in 2016, making amigurumi Pokémon to hide while everyone was playing Pokémon Go! During lockdown, I started making clothes for myself, and so Manatee Squares was born.
I love a bit of filet crochet, so much so that I released a whole book of filet crochet patterns in 2024 called Filet Crochet To Wear. The patterns feel super meditative and are so simple to work on, but with a gorgeous end result. If you've not tried it yet, what are you waiting for?!
I'm also a huge fan of granny squares and their versatility, and I'm thrilled that so many people have caught onto them in recent years. Whenever I'm stuck in a crochet rut, I just start on some squares and I know inspiration will hit me soon.
Want to feature in our Pop Up?
The Little Pop Up Shop on the Green invites one small creative business to take residence a month. The idea is simple but important; supporting small independents means raising each other up; community over competition.
If you would like to be considered for a future residence, then please complete the form below and we will be in touch.
